“Amplified” as Best Film at MedFest
○ 21 September 2025
Among over 30 films taking part in the official competition of the seventh MedFest Film Festival, sponsored by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, “Amplified” received the Best Film Award. The film’s director, Jordanian Dina Nasser, sent a thanks video message to the festival’s management and the jury after the film won the award, for she was unable to attend the closing ceremony.
Nasser mentioned that “Amplified” is not just a short film, but also a space of silence that turned into a scream to break isolation and granted her the opportunity to see the world with different eyes.
Moreover, Nasser dedicated the award to the film’s young artist, Malak, who succeeded in conveying the experience in all details and giving a new meaning to communication and strength through her talent and sensitivity. Besides, she dedicated the award to the deaf community in Jordan and the Arab world as a prominent inspiration for the film.
Eventually, Nasser extended her thanks to the audiences and everyone who contributed to supporting the project. She concluded her message with a request to raise voices against silence and injustice in Gaza. She also praised MedFest’s initiative, when it comes to creating a real space for expression and communication, congratulating all winners of this edition.
