“The Last Miracle” — 46th Cairo IFF Official Competition

The Last Miracle” competes in the Official Short Narrative Competition at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival.

The Egyptian film is directed by Abdelwahab Shawky, written by Mark Lotfy and Abdelwahab Shawky, and stars Khaled Kamal, Ahmed Siam, and Abed Anani, with Ghada Adel appearing as a guest star.

Adapted from the short story “Miracle” by Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz, the film follows Yehia, a forty-year-old journalist who receives a mysterious phone call from a dead man, setting him off on a spiritual journey that leads to an unexpected fate.

Produced by Amjad Abu Alala, Mark Lotfy, Baho Bakhsh, and Adel Abdullah, with Sherif Fathy, Safi Eldin Mahmoud, Abdelwahab Shawky, and Boris Despodiev as co-producers.
Production companies include Station Films, Red Star Films, Key Films, Fig Leaf Studios, Shift Studios, and Art House Blockbusters.

The film received support from the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC). It is highly anticipated by cinema lovers in Egypt and abroad.

Previously, the film was selected as the opening film of the El Gouna Film Festival last year, but was banned by censorship authorities just 48 hours before the premiere. Now, after being officially approved, it returns to the cinematic spotlight with a strong participation at the Cairo International Film Festival.
